Eva Lindner – Journalist
This is about my professional career, the topics I most enjoy writing and speaking about, and what I do when I am not working.
Basics
I was born in 1983 in Upper Bavaria, grew up in Munich, and for 10 years Berlin was the centre of my life and work as a freelance journalist. These days, I live with my family in Valencia, Spain.
Education
I studied Theatre and Media Studies, German Studies, and Art History at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen. I completed internships at, among others, the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation.
Work
I completed my traineeship at the Axel Springer Academy in Berlin (2010–2012). After that, I worked as an editor in the joint newsroom of Die Welt/Berliner Morgenpost in the News/Page 1 department. From 2013 to 2014, I hosted the literature programme “Erlesen” on Potsdam TV as lead editor and presenter.
Since 2013, I have been self-employed as a freelance journalist, trainer, and moderator.
From 2017 to 2020, I was a journalistic advisor to the Federal Foreign Office for the website “deutschland.de”.
From 2020 to 2021, I was the press spokesperson for the Equal Pay Day campaign in Germany.
Topics
As a reporter, I cover stories from, among other places, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and India. My focus areas are science, women’s health and sustainability. I particularly enjoy working in the genres of reportage and profile. I work in German and English.
Funding
I received funding as a scholarship holder from the Herbert Quandt Foundation for the Trialogue of Cultures programme (6 months in Jerusalem) and from the Robert Bosch Foundation for the Media Tandem (4 weeks in Hungary). I was also awarded the DRK Media Prize in 2012.
Coaching
As a systemic personal and business coach, I am certified by the European Coaching Association.
Teaching
From 2020 to 2023, I taught as an external lecturer in the “Digital Journalism” degree programme at Nuremberg Tech (TH Nürnberg).
Volunteering
Since 2020, I have been active in the association ProQuote Medien, including three years on the board. We advocate for equality and diversity in newsrooms. I regularly speak about women’s quotas, feminism, and gender equality in podcasts, on panel discussions, or in interviews.
